I awoke to Eastern bluebirds singing before first light this morning. Wonderful sound. You can't hear them without smiling.
I think they have an established nesting territory across the street. But they come into both the front and back yard to visit berries, drink water, check out my nest box, and chatter and sing! I love it.Later I happened to look out the window and saw the nesting phoebes chasing away a male bluebird. He landed on a limb that is the male phoebe's preferred perch while he guards the female's nest building activity. I hate that. I do wish we could all get along so the bluebirds could settle into the nest box that is near by.

I'm still wishing.
I really like your Bluebird sketch. Your birds are very busy already.
ReplyDeleteAwesome to have Bluebirds near! I utterly love your sketch/watercolor. Join the club, trying to attract Bluebirds :-)
ReplyDeleteWow! I am so excited to have found your site! I've recently discovered "nature journaling", and, although I haven't done much with it yet, I am in LOVE! I've gotten a journal for both of my children, too, and in one morning my 5yo son did about 10 entries. He loves to draw. Your site will be a big inspiration to both of us. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYou have a very soft touch to your bird sketches and interesting journals with them.
